Laura, congratulations on being voted August’s Star of the Month! Could you give us a quick introduction to yourself and your role here at Harrison?
My name is Laura, I’ve worked at Harrison for a total of 3 1/2 years now. My role at Harrison lies within the Purchasing and Production team as a supply chain co-ordinator. My role is to forecast and liaise with our EU suppliers to ensure we offer high quality and efficient product ranges, and maintain constant stock levels. Within the production side, I schedule and plan all in-house manufacturing.
How do you think your colleagues would describe you in 3 words?
I think they would describe me as organised, helpful and resourceful.
What was your initial reaction to being voted star of the month?
At first, I was shocked that I’d been voted for by my colleagues! But I also felt extremely humbled that I had been voted by hard-working members of my team.
Your colleagues voted for you in recognition of your hard work, is there a particular project/job you are especially proud of?
With our peak season starting earlier than expected this year, we’ve had to respond quickly to higher than usual stock requirements. This has been a challenge but we have been able to work together as a team to meet our client’s needs fully, and promptly!
What would you say is the most interesting aspect of your role?
I love the challenge that it brings every day. I’m constantly using and developing my problem-solving skills to ensure clients are receiving their orders as requested, every day is different.
What about outside of work? Could you describe your perfect weekend for us?
A perfect weekend would consist of good food, wine (of course!), family and friends or exploring new places.
Finally, if you were to go out for a drink with any 3 people in history, who would they be and why?
The first person would be Elizabeth I. It would be really interesting to understand the challenges and victories of what it would have felt like to be one of the first females in such a high seat of power.
Ann Frank would be my second. Although hearing about her ordeal and the hardship she faced would be an emotional and difficult conversation to have, I think it would be incredibly enlightening to put myself in her shoes for a few moments.
Finally - Martin Luther King. An inspiration to millions of individuals with his political views and his ability to end racial inequality in America, without any violence! That’s pretty impressive – Who wouldn’t want to have a drink with a person like that?
Thank you Laura, and once again, congratulations!
